PURPOSE: To prevent production of optical irregularity as Newton's rings caused by thermal expansion of the surface of an optical filter adjacent to a screen by forming a surface coating layer on the surface of a resin substrate and distributing heat-resistant fine particles on the surface coating layer to produce projections from the layer surface. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber 10 is provided with a resin substrate 20 and a surface coating layer 30. The surface coating layer 30 is disposed to face the screen 72 of a display 70. Heat-resistant fine particles 50 are mixed into the surface coating layer 30 in such a manner that the fine particles 50 project from the surface of the surface coating layer 30. As for the heat-resistant fine particles 50, inorg. material such as glass, silica and ceramic can be used. The surface coating layer 30 is 2-8μm thick, and therefore, the particle size of the fine particles 50 is preferably over 2μm to 11μm. When the resin substrate 20 is thermally expanded, the fine particles act as a spacer between the optical filter 10 and the screen 72 of the display 70 and prevent production of Newton's rings on the screen 72. |
