A fired gas flushing brick for use in a vacuum vessel for the decarburisation of molten steel has many parallel channels, formed by metal or ceramic tubelets which are bonded, after the firing process, in prepd. passages or fixed by mortar. FLushing with Ar gas without any separate oxygen blast reduces the C content form 0.03% to under 0.002%. ADVANTAGE - Such a brick combines low cost with a long life and a max. decarburisation effect. |
