PURPOSE: To accurately measure the thickness at a plurality of points in the circumferential direction without changing the position of radiation source and detector even for tubular materials having different dimensions of diameter and thickness. CONSTITUTION: Odd number of radiation sources 1, 1,... and corresponding detectors 2, 2,... are arranged, at a constant interval, on the outside of a tubular material P to be measured such that the beam of radiation 3 from each source 1 passes the thick part of the tubular material P twice before being captured by the detector 2. When the intersection of the radiations 3, 3,... deviates from the thickness range of the tubular material P, and the thickness of the tubular material P is operated by applying the radiation detection intensities of the detectors 2, 2,... to a predetermined operational equation, conversion constants are corrected based on the radius r1 of a circle connecting the intersections of the radiations 3, 3,..., the radius r0 of the tubular material P, and the intersection angle 2θof the radiations 3, 3,.... Furthermore, the operation results obtained using the corrected conversion constants are corrected based on the circumferential shift angleϕbetween the incident position of the radiation 3 to the tubular material P and the intersection of the radiations 3, 3.
