OPTICAL FIBER TEMPERATURE MONITORING SENSOR AND TEMPERATURE MONITORING METHOD

PURPOSE: To obtain a simple and inexpensive optical fiber temperature monitoring sensor for monitoring the temperature of an optical transmission line remotely and a method for monitoring the temperature by using the sensor. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber temperature monitoring sensor comprises an optical fiber 2, a member 3 for imparting a bend to the optical fiber 2 for a predetermined temperature variation thereof. The member 3 for imparting a bend constitute a body 4 having a part 7 for passing the optical fiber 2 loosely and the under side thereof is filled with a substance 5 which makes a transition from liquid phase to solid phase at a predetermined temperature and expands.
