PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display having a wide sight angle and high contrast ratio, and a manufacturing method for the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display which is formed in such a state that an electric field applied to a liquid crystal layer is almost parallel to a substrate surface and has a matrix type pixel electrode 3 group, a transistor element, and a prescribed drive means, an insulating layer 1 composed of inorganic material is arranged on the electrode 3 group, an insulating layer 2 composed of an organic high polymer is provided thereon, a film thickness of the insulating layer 1 composed of a inorganic material is set to 0.1μm or more, and the thickness of the insulating material layer 2 composed of organic high polymer is set to the half or more of the thickness of an electrode, which is a thicker one in the pixel electrodes 3 and a common electrode 4. |
