<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a data recorder capable of successively forming plural partitions on a tape and requiring very short time for initializing processing. CONSTITUTION: When the tape is initialized, the partition A is formed of a dummy track and DIT being header information at the head of the tape. A VSIT in which the volume information of the tape is stored is also formed with the partition A. At such a time, a CLT track is not alloted to the rear (EOT side) of the partition A. Therefore, initialization is performed in a very short time. When newly forming the partition B, the dummy track is written at the rear of the partition A, and continuously the new partition B is formed, then the content of the VSIT is updated concurrently.</p> |
