PURPOSE: To remove the ends projected from an electrode plate by a spark, and to reduce a poor condition owing to a short-circuit, by applying a specific voltage between the electrode plate and conductive members provided near the electrode plate, in the manufacture of a paste electrode. CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a paste electrode, an electrode plate 1 is inserted into the center between two sheets of conductive members such as earthed nickel plates 2 and 3, not to contact the nickel plates 2 and 3. Between an electrode plate terminal 4 and the nickel plates 2 and 3, a DC current of 100 to 400V is applied, and a spark is made from the projecting ends at four positions of the electrode plate 1, so as to remove the ends. Or in the other way, by holding the electrode plate 1 at a reduction ambiance in a high temperature furnace and the like, the projecting ends of the electrode plate 1 are fused or molten. Consequently, a fraction defective owing to the short circuit of the ends projected from a porous holder can be reduced. |
