摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a compact and low-loss 2×2 mechanical bypass optical switch. CONSTITUTION: A pair of optical fibers 1 and 2 is held and fixed to be in a cantilever state by a supporting member 51, and oppositely connected to a pair of optical fibers 3 and 4 fixed in the square hole 53 of an arraying member 52 in the square hole 53 of the member 52. Magnetic substances 11 and 12 are respectively fixed to the optical fibers 1 and 2, and hollow solenoid coils 21 and 22 are respectively arranged around the magnetic substances 11 and 12, then the pairs of permanent magnets 31a and 31b, and 32a and 32b are respectively oppositely arranged around the coils 21 and 22 so that they may have reverse magnetism. Then, the permanent magnets are arranged so that the line of magnetic force linking the magnets 31a and 31b may be crossed with a plane including the parts of the optical fibers 3 and 4 fixed to the member 52 and the line of magnetic force linking the magnets 32a and 32b may be nearly parallel with the plane.
