PURPOSE: To provide an electron source driving device capable of reducing the unbalance of the distribution of an emission amt. of electrons and to provide an image forming device capable of reducing the unbalance of a luminance distribution. CONSTITUTION: A scan control signal is inputted to a scan signal driving part 1003 or 1004 alternately for each screen by a drive control circuit 1001 based on an inputted image signal, and in synchronization with this scan control signal, a data signal is outputted to a data signal driving part 1002. An element train group of a surface conduction type electron emission elements 1005 is driven one by one line from an input end of one side of its line by the scan signal driving part 1003 or 1004 based on the inputted scan control signal. A signal based on the inputted data signal is supplied by the data signal driving part 1002 to a grid 13 for controlling an electron beam emitted from the element 1005.
