PURPOSE: To manufacture a carbon plate for a fuel cell having sufficient mechanical strength by integrally layering gas impermeable carbon sheet materials by the necessary number of sheets, and forming necessary pattern grooves on these surfaces. CONSTITUTION: Gas impermeable carbon sheet materials 1 (having a thickness of 0.1 to 1.0mm) are layered, for example, by three sheets, and are integrally formed by thermocompression bonding. Next, necessary different pattern grooves 2 and 2' are worked on these both surfaces by a press, and a carbon plate 3 for a fuel cell is manufactured. The gas impermeable carbon sheet materials 1 are a carbon composite material of very thin carbon fiber and graphite fine powder. Therefore, the carbon plate 3 for the fuel cell which can be thinned and whose weight can be reduced even if these are formed in a multilayer shape up to about 50 cells to 400 cells when the fuel cell is assembled, can be accurately and easily obtained. |
