PURPOSE: To provide a battery driven portable information equipment which determines a voltage for generating a battery rest alarm according to whether the power consumption of a main body is large or small or the kind of a battery and inhibits the battery rest alarm from being generated according to environmental conditions. CONSTITUTION: On the basis of the power consumption of the main body 10 which is inputted from a keyboard 34 or automatically measured by a battery voltage monitoring microcomputer 20, an optimum conversion table 131 which converts a battery rest alarm time into a battery rest alarm voltage is selected. Then the main body 10 generates an address of the conversion table 131 on the basis of a battery rest alarm time inputted from the keyboard 34 and set in a register 191. Then the microcomputer 20 compares the battery rest alarm voltage from the conversion table 131 with the rest voltage of the battery which is actually measured and generates an alarm by a speaker 31 when the measured value reaches the battery rest alarm voltage from the conversion table 131.
