The system comprises two platforms. One platform (1) is fixed to the steering wheel and the other (2) is fixed to the steering column. The wheel platform is fixed to the column platform by fitting a connecting pin whose axis coincides with the steering column axis, allowing rotation about this axis, the play being reduced to a minimum. The column platform is fixed to the wheel platform by a common system composed of one or more bolts (4) controlled by a key (5). The bolts have a shape and are of material chosen for resisting shearing.
