PURPOSE: To provide an electrostatic recording control method capable of executing stable image formation with one surface potential sensor, in a color printing electrostatic recorder adopting a combination of normal development and reversal development. CONSTITUTION: The electrostatic recorder is provided with one surface potential sensor 11 between a first developing machine 7 and a second developing machine 9 and a characteristic change detecting means (a printing page number counter and a thermometer) for a photoreceptor 1. The electrostatic recording method is provided with a first process for electrifying the surface of the photoreceptor and then, irradiating a test pattern by an exposure system 5, to form a test electrostatic latent image, a second process for passing the test electrostatic latent image, in a state where the developing function of the first developing machine 7 is stopped, to measure a surface potential, a third process for changing a control setting potential, a fourth process for controlling exposure energy for forming the test pattern, so as to make the measured potential the control setting potential, a fifth process for forming the test electrostatic latent image, a sixth process for forming a first toner image corresponding to the test electrostatic latent image and a seventh process for setting the bias voltage value of the second developing machine 9, based on the measured value. |
