PURPOSE: To indicate the numbers of the composite tapes constituting a high-density cable and to device the ways of indicating the tape numbers of the many unit tapes in such a manner that the tape numbers are indicated by each of the respective units to be branched. CONSTITUTION: The coatings of the first strands A at the left ends of the respective unit tapes 1a, 1b constituting the composite tape are colored with one among one set of the specific colors consisting of blue, yellow, green, red, purple, etc., and the one coating of the other fibers H of the respective unit tapes 1a, 1b are coated with other colors exclusive of this color. The tape numbers are indicated by the positions of the color coding of the coloration of the first strands A and/or the positions of the fibers H colored by the other color. The taped coatings and composite taped coatings are formed of colorless UV curing resins. The number of color coding of the first fibers A at the left ends of the respective unit tapes 1a,1b is defined as (a) and the number of the fibers of the unit tapes 1a, 1b as (n). This composite optical fiber tape is attached with the tape numbers by the coloration of the fibers indicating the tape numbers on the max. (a)×(n) pieces of the unit tapes by the specific color at the left ends of the unit tapes and the positions of the fibers colored by the other color.
