PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mechanical resistance of a gelatin layer by providing a protective layer containing specific gelatin, and hardening the gelatin with a specific carbamoyl pyridinium salt compound. SOLUTION: This photosensitive silver halide photographic component contains a base having a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and has at least one protective layer further separated from the base than each silver halide emulsion layer, the protective layer contains gelatin having the viscosity of 20mPa/sec or below in the aqueous solution of 10wt.% at 40 deg.C, and the gelatin is hardened by the carbamoyl pyridinium salt compound expressed by the formula, where R1 and R2 may be the same or different and indicate the alkyl group and aryl group respectively, R1 and R2 have nitrogen atoms connecting them and constituting the atoms necessary for forming a heterocycle, R3 indicates a hydrogen atom, and R4 indicates the alkylene group or a single bond.
