The contraceptive consists of a sheath (1) which is conical in configuration and closed at its smaller end, having a thin flexible wall which is lubricated on both its internal and external surfaces. The sheath is folded accordion-style to compress it axially into a small proportion of its extended length for storage. The open end of the sheath is connected to a flexible retaining sheet (2) which has a convex surface and an opening (3) which communicates to the interior of the sheath. The retaining sheet is attachable to a support, such as a strap or an undergarment, for location adjacent to the opening of the vagina.
