Aqueous, subcutaneously injectable, nutrient metal compositions comprising zinc or manganese ions, plus a stabilizer, are administered to animals in a health-enhancing amount, said compositions containing no health-enhancing amount of copper or selenium compounds. A method for administering the compositions to animals comprising subcutaneously injecting said compositions into said animals a health-enhancing amount, but not injecting copper or selenium compounds in a health-enhancing amount. A package for injecting said compositions into said animals comprising a reservoir holding multiple doses of said composition, a conduit connecting said reservoir to an injector (4), and means associated with said injector for permitting said injector (4) to be recharged with another injectable dose after injection of an animal. |
