The device has a motor start and stop device (11). The start and running process is carried out in dependence on maintaining the safety steps at different function elements. Switches or sensors (12-17) are arranged on the function elements to be monitored. An electric or electronic safety device (8) is arranged between the switches or sensors and the motor start/stop device. The safety device (8) has a logic gate and control lights associated with the gate and the switches or sensors. An electric signal dependent on the switches or sensors is associated with the output (7) of the safety device (8). This signal closes or breaks the current loop of the motor start/stop device (11). An integrated circuit or discrete electronic switch may be associated with each switch or sensor.
