摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having high reflectance and high modulation degree of reproduction signals, which conforms to the compact disk (CD) specifications, by specifying the ratio of the product (real part of complex refractive index X film thickness) of a light-absorbing layer to the wavelength of light for reproducing. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium consists of a light-transmitting substrate 1, light-absorbing layer 2 formed thereon and a reflecting layer 3 formed on the back surface of the substrate. The light absorbing layer is formed to satisfy that the ratio expressed by rho=nabsdabs/lambda is in the range of 0.6<rho<1.6, wherein nabs is the real part of the complex refractive index, dabs is the film thickness and lambda is the wavelength for reproducing. By this constitution, high reflectance can be realized and the obtd. medium conforms to the CD specifications that specify >=70% reflectance.
