SECONDARY MOLDING OF PRELIMINARILY MOLDED SUBSTANCE AND SECONDARY MOLDING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To reduce occurrence of wrinkles, tears or creases in a preform material by holding this preform material between two elastic sheets. CONSTITUTION: A preform material 12 is heated to a temperature sufficient for softening a sizing agent coating the preform material 12. The preform material 12 is held subsequently between an upper elastic sheet 70 and a lower elastic sheet 68 so as to minimize wrinkles occurring in the preform material 12 and then a laminate assembly is formed of the preform material 12 and the two sheets 68 and 70. A lubricant is supplied subsequently into a space isolating surfaces 16 and 42 of a mold from the laminate assembly so that the sheets of the laminate assembly be separated from the surfaces 16 and 42 of the mold. In this state, the laminate assembly is formed in conformity with the surfaces 16 and 42 of the mold.
