NEW MATERIAL:5H-Pyrrolo-[3,4-d]-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid shown by the formula or a salt thereof. USE:Having actions on nervous system as an antagonist or agonist and a really new parent nucleus as a drug, useful as a synthetic raw material, namely a leading substance to new active substances such as other drugs. PREPARATION:A fungus belonging to the genus Penicillium, capable of producing a substance shown by the formula, living in soil, is cultured in a medium, formed and accumulated and the culture mixture is extracted and isolated to give the substance shown by the formula. A strain especially preferable for production of the substance is a strain (FERM P-10,727) belonging to the species oxalicum of the genus Penicillium. The strain is collected from various kinds of soil in Japan and a strain separated from soil in the riverbed of the EDO at MATSUDO CITY in CHIBA PREFECTURE is preferably used. |
