Two light signals (L1', L2') run in opposite directions through a series circuit a first optical fibre (4), a first polariser (5), a Faraday sensor (3), a second polariser (6) and a second optical fibre (7). In order to adjust the working point, the polarisation planes of both light signals are further rotated by rotation means (8) between both polarisers in opposite directions over a predetermined angle of rotation. A measurement signal (M) that is independent from vibrations and flexural influences in the optical fibres is derived from the luminous intensity (I1, I2) of both light signals (L1, L2) after they run through the series circuit. |
