An appts., for inserting sheet parts, removing workpieces or transferring workpieces through successive work stations in a press, simulator or similar processing or assembling machines, has spaced-apart parallel transport or guide rails which hold and move the sheet parts and/or workpieces through the press and which are movable vertically and opt. horizontally by drive mechanisms. The novelty is that a support system (9,9') for the conveyed workpieces (8,8',8'') is located between the rails (4,5) and below the workpieces and/or sheet parts. Also claimed is a similar appts. for inserting or removing sheet parts or workpieces into or out of a press or the like, the appts. being drivable up and down and to-and-fro and having holders for holding the edges of the sheet parts or workpieces. The workpiece support system is located between the holders and below the sheet parts or workpieces.
