A device for examining cavities, in particular of human or animal bodies, has an endoscope (1) with an optical fibre for lighting the cavity and an objective lens, an optical fibre for retransmitting the image formed on the objective lens and an eyepiece (3) for observing the retransmitted image, as well as a headpiece (4) for holding the eyepiece of the endoscope in front of one eye of the examining person. The invention is characterised in that a viewing system, in particular a binocular viewing system (6), is arranged on the headpiece (4), and in that the eyecup (3) of the endoscope is monocularly connected to a beam path of the viewing system.
