Homogenisation, grading and discharge/extraction of water sludges

The following are claimed: (A) homogenisation, grading and discharging/extracting of water sludges, comprising in situ homogenisation of the sludges to an aq. suspension, then grading, discharging and working up. (B) appts. for carrying out the above process. Pref. a portion of the water is delimited, but remains in contact with the rest of the water. In the limited volume, a homogenisation by mixing and agitation of the sediment slurry with the supernatant water column is carried out, giving a suspension. The homogenised suspension is treated with gas bubbles, without interrupting the agitation. The gas may be formed by electrolytic decomposition of water in the suspension using direct current. This direct current may be obtd. using solar cells. The electrodes perform oxygen evolution outside the limited water volume, and hydrogen evolution inside the water volume. Alternatively the gas formation may be carried out using aluminium electrodes which deliver alternating current. In this case alkali (ne earth) chlorides are added to the limited suspension.
