Two-part foodstuffs container with sealing lip for easy closure and food preservation

A container for foodstuffs comprises a base (301B) and a cover with identical opposing receptacles for holding each food item and an edge fastening system including elastic connectors (203), pref. moulded onto the cover around the receptacles and engaging with a lip (7) on the base. Pref. the base (301B) and cover are identical except for the connector section. The connector is an integral part of the cover and forms a sealing ring with an H-section, a shank (225) of which extends into the cover wall. Two further shanks (220A,220B) facing away from the cover grip the base edge (7) and the inner shank (220B) is more elastic than the outer shank (220A) and the latter (220A) includes a nose which forms an undercut locking section for the base edge (7). The outer faces of the shanks (220A,222A), form a V-shape to the vertical. In an alternative design the interlocking sections only exist over part of the container edge and the design includes a cut-out, pref. a hole in the cover into which a raised area in the base (301B) inserts during container closure. A horizontal strap extends outwards from the sealing shank and two straps are pref. one on each side of the container.
