A container for tablets and the like comprising a cylindrical container portion (1) having at its one end a bottom (2) which is integral with the cylinder wall (3) and wherein there is arranged an axially displaceable intermediate bottom (21) for delimiting a filling space between the intermediate bottom (21) and a top portion (4) inserted into the open end of the container portion, said top portion (4) having a mouth provided with a closure (10). During filling of the container, the tablets are introduced into the container portion (1) through the open end thereof prior to insertion of the top portion (4) therein.
