The subject of the invention is a ski comprising a first subassembly or base (1) having its own stiffness distribution and a second, upper, subassembly or stiffener (2) connected to the base by flexible and/or partially rigid linking means. The stiffener (2) comprises two parts (20, 21) which are separated and spaced from each other by a short distance (d) when the ski is at rest. The two parts (20, 21) interact with each other when the ski is stressed in bending under certain conditions of operation so as to increase the stiffness of the ski.
