A lock assembly (50) having a housing (56) which includes a strike (54) pivotable between a lock position and an unlock position, an actuator mechanism (52) for maintaining the strike (54) in the lock position and being movable to allow the strike (54) to move from the lock position to the unlock position, a motor (62) for moving the actuator mechanism (52), and a receiver circuit (84) for controlling the motor (62) in response to receipt of a control signal. The housing (56) may include an independent power supply (60) and the signal may be transmitted by a remote RF unit (80) on depressing an "unlock" button (84) on the remote unit (80).
