The device quickly and releasably attaches a power protection switch to a profiled rail (3). A mounting element (9) on the switch housing grips under the rail together with a clamping projection (5). The mounting element has an slot shaped operating part (7) which is carried in a groove (10) in the switch housing. Two springs (6, 8) are formed on the operating part. One spring is arranged at the end of the operating part and is supported when the mounting element is pushed and locked into the groove. The other spring is supported when the mounting element is pushed and locked into the groove by forming a spring force on inserts (13) of the groove.
