Equipment for cutting and marking pieces of material has table cover for laying out the piece, a container for marking means and a device for producing the marks. It also has, above the cover, a cutter comprising a cutting beam which travels along the table platform and, on the beam, a cutter head which travels backwards and forwards across the cover carrying a holder (9) with a cutting appts. and a jet on support struts pointing at the cover. The jet is connected to the container via a tube and to a propellant device for the marking medium via a switched valve. There is a control appts. for the cutter head. The marking medium in the container (15) is a fluid (18) contg. a marking substance which is visible under UV light and the cutting motion controller (6) for the cutter head (8) is set up to mark out quilt seam lines as linear shapes.
