The dishwasher has crockery baskets (1, 2) mounted in a rotating carrier (3). The arms (6, 7) carrying the sprays rotate about axes which are off-set relative to the axis of rotation of the carrier. The drive motor and mechanism housing is water tight relative to the washing compartment. The baskets can angular in shape (e.g. 90 deg. or 180 deg.) enabling them to be drawn out through the front door.
