Press control process

The drive force of a motor (51) is converted into a thrust of a die (601) by means of a converter unit (52,53). The motor torque variation during the press operation is determined to establish whether a predetermined value (which is less than the target torque) is reached or not. When this value is reached, the drive quantum (i.e. the number of pulses) of the motor (51) is counted and compared with a predetermined pattern. The thrust velocity of the die is varied in a way that it reaches zero when a predetermined drive quantum is reached. The equipment includes a device in the form of a control unit (90) for determining the torque and counting the pulses of motor, and for subsequent processing and comparing of the measured data.
