The steering lock (1) is particularly for use with a vehicle with a lock barrel (7). The cylinder core of the barrel rotates a wave-shaped control cam (8) arranged at the rear. The control cam actuates an ignition switch and a steering lock esp. a locking handle (5). The control cam has a displaced or bent region between its end near the cylinder core and its other end. This region lies outside the axis of rotation. At the beginning and end of the bent region, the control cam may be cropped or reduced. The bent region may be formed from a profile lying parallel and to the side of the cam axis. The bent region may be connected to the bounding parts of the control cam by radial or inclined connection regions. These may have two kinked sections. In the space made available by the bent region, the steering column and/or locking collar may lie.
