COMPOSITE GYPSUM BOARD

A composite gypsum board comprising a gypsum material and a filler, characterized in that the filler contains paper chips and/or a paper chip assembly as the essential component, the paper chips and/or the chip assembly being arranged substantially parallel to the plane perpendicular to the thicknesswise direction of the board. A process for preparing the board is also provided. The board has markedly improved bending strength and resistance to pulling out of screws and nails. Further, it is valuable also from the viewpoint of effective utilization of wastes, a problem awaiting solution in recent years.
