A battery holding device for a vehicle in particular a power-assisted bicycle comprises an outer box adapted to be secured to said vehicle and electrically connectable to a power unit of said vehicle. Further, an inner box is adapted to accommodate at least one battery and being insertable into said outer box. The battery holding device in addition is provided with an urging mechanism for urging said inserted inner box against said outer box for maintaining an electrical contact between said boxes. <IMAGE>
