PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time for executing a density conversion by calculating a value which can be calculated in advance and storing it in a form of a table, and executing a part of an operation of each picture element of an image after a conversion processing by consulting the table. CONSTITUTION:An image signal read by a scanner 61 is stored in a memory 3 through an A/D converting part 62. On the other hand, when density converting magnification is inputted to a magnification designating part 70, a table generating part 11 of an arithmetic processor 10 generates an influence degree table from its converting magnification, and stores it in a memory 4. A calculating part 12 calculates a relative position to an image to be converted with regard to each picture element after the conversion, refers to the influence degree table in the memory 4 by its position and a value of a conversion picture element in the memory 3 and derives a decision value P to the conversion picture element of the picture element to be converted by a prescribed operation, and determines the value of the conversion picture element by comparing it with a prescribed threshold. Subsequently, the generated conversion image is stored in a memory 5, and the conversion image is printed by a printer 81, or displayed on a display 82. |
