Crystallizer

The reactor (1) consists of a chamber (3) bounded by an envelope (5) which holds the liq. to be crystallised, and a series of tubes (21) inside the chamber, designed to carry a heat transfer fluid which causes the liq. to crystallise. The walls (11, 13) of the envelope have apertures (19) and the ends of the tubes (21) are engaged with the apertures to reinforce the walls. The envelope is of parallelepiped shape and made from a base, a top and four side walls, with the tubes situated in alternating layers in parallel planes running perpendicular to one another and having their ends welded to the envelope walls. Adjacent tube ends projecting from the walls are connected by 180 degrees couplings (23). The top and base of the envelope are also connected by a number of long bolts to give the reactor increased mechanical strength under pressure.
