PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor element having excellent response and sensitivity by forming a structure having the repeating irregularity at least at the working part of one surface of an enzyme immobilization film. CONSTITUTION:A structure having a repeating irregularity is formed at least at the working part of one surface of an enzyme immobilization film 3. In the irregular structure of this immobilization film 3, convex parts (thick film parts) 3a and concave parts (thin film parts) 3b are provided. The overall mechanical strength is secured with the convex parts 3a. Meanwhile, the diffusion of sample liquid is made easy with the convex parts 3b. Furthermore, high sensitivity as a whole can be maintained. An ordinary carrier can be used as a porous carrier constituting the immobilization film 3. The porous carrier is made to be the immobilization film 3 by immobiling specified enzyme by an ordinary method. At least one surface of the porous carrier has the irregular structure. The irregular structure can be provided in a repeating pattern. It is preferable that the ratio between the presences of the concave parts and the convex parts is selected in the range of about 3/7 - 7/3. |
