The present invention relates to a mobile telephone payment system in real time, which system relates to the payment of bills of mobile telephone users, the presentation of account charges, account statements or account transactions in real time through the use of their portable telephones anywhere within wireless telecommunications systems. Certain characteristics of the invention are intended to extend added-value services within existing mobile communications systems. The present invention also offers service providers the facility, through wireless telecommunications networks and in real time, to bill their customers through the use of their mobile telephones. In this invention, a mobile telephone subscriber, when he/she wishes to settle his/her bills, inputs details of a payment (a bill) and the account number of the payee into a mobile telephone payment part 10, which is no. 1 or 6 on his/her mobile telephone. After a telephone number of a computing station 2 located at a bank 3 has been dialled, the payment data is sent through a mobile network 4 to the computing station. At the computing station 2, the signature of the caller party is checked and the payment is then transferred from the bank account of the caller into the account of the payee and both the caller and the payee are subsequently informed about the bill in question. Within the scope of the present invention, the portable telephone is also provided with a small receipt printer, which can print out a receipt for customers within the service industry. <IMAGE>
