A fibrous zeolite and a method of preparing the zeolite, when the fibrous zeolite may be represented as xTiO2.(1-y)SiO2 where x and y are approximately equivalent and lie in the range 0.02-0.1). The fibrous zeolite so produced is self-supporting and may also be used as a reinforcing or supporting material. The fibrous zeolite is relatively easy to adsorb and desorb and is also relatively easy to use as a functional material. <IMAGE>
