<p>PURPOSE: To provide a corona discharge apparatus causing little danger of electric shock in maintenance, etc., and capable of selectively generating negative ion or positive ion by placing a high-voltage radio-frequency power source between a specific induction electrode and a discharging electrode. CONSTITUTION: This discharge apparatus 1 is composed of a corona discharge element 3 and a driving power source 25. The corona discharge element 3 is provided with an induction electrode 9 on a substrate 11 and a discharging electrode 5 placed opposite to the induction electrode 9 interposing an insulation layer 7 therebetween. The induction electrode 9 shown in the figure B has a planer form and the discharging electrode 5 has a strip form. The substrate 11 is made of a sintered ceramic material having a thickness of about 0.5-2.0mm, the insulation layer 7 is a thin film (50-1,000μm thick) of ceramics, etc., and each electrode 5, 9 is a metallized film of molybdenum, etc. A positive or negative radio-frequency high voltage is applied to the induction electrode 9 by the driving power source 25, a creeping corona discharge is generated around the discharging electrode by the potential difference between the discharging electrode 5 and the induction electrode 9 and ions having polarity opposite to the voltage applied to the induction electrode 9 are generated in the air around the discharging electrode 5.</p> |
