GAS CYLINDER AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To raise strength of an outer shell while weight-saving is achieved in a gas cylinder having a two layer structure of an inner shell and the FRP made outer shell. CONSTITUTION: In a gas cylinder having an inner shell 2 having gas barrier properties and a pressure resistant FRP-made outer shell 3 so provided as to cover the inner shell 2, the outer shell 3 has a lamellar structure of at least five layers on a barrel part of the gas cylinder, and a relation between total thickness T (mm) and the number of layers N satisfies the foumula 0.5<=T/N<=6.
