ACETOHYDROXY ACID SYNTHASE GENE OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC BACTERIA

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new gene coding for two subunits of an acetohydroxy acid synthase originated from Rhodobacter capsulatus belonging to photosynthetic bacterial strain and giving an amino acid synthase to use CO2 as a carbon source as well as an energy source. CONSTITUTION: This new DNA useful e.g. for the production of enzymes for the synthesis of amino acids using CO2 as a carbon source as well as an energy source codes for a large subunit of an acetohydroxy acid synthase having an amino acid sequence of formula I and a small subunit of an acetohydroxy acid synthase having an amino acid sequence of formula II and is originated from Rhodobacter capsulatus (ATCC 11166) which is a photosynthetic bacterial strain. The DNA can be produced by extracting the whole DNA of Rhodobacter capsulatus, selecting a pair of primers composed of the DNA part of an acetohydroxy acid synthase and cloning the synthesized product by PCR method using the primers.
