<p>PURPOSE: To perform cleaning of the peripheral surface of a cleaning roller without increasing driving torque of a paper feeding roller by making a cleaning member traverse along a screw shaft by the rotation of the paper feeding roller after the rotation of the paper feeding roller is made into the steady rotation and the driving torque is lowered. CONSTITUTION: When a paper feeding device performs the paper feeding operation for one paper sheet, a cleaning roller 18 is moved from one stroke end of a screw shaft 17 to the other stroke end when a paper feeding roller 1 is rotated in the paper feeding direction. The peripheral surface of a cleaning roller 18 is brought in contact with the paper feeding roller 1 peripheral surface on the way of the movement, so as to clean the paper feeding roller 1. While a conveying roller is rotated in the paper feeding direction by the reverse rotation of a driving motor, the peripheral surface of the cleaning roller 18 is brought in contact with the peripheral surface of the paper feeding roller 1 also in the way where the cleaning roller 18 is returned from the other stroke end to one stroke end, so as to clean the paper feeding roller 1.</p> |
