PURPOSE: To realize biological treatment free from offensive odor by creating and maintaining an artificial microorganism phase is the inside of the treating tank of a garbage-biologically treating device. CONSTITUTION: A method for treating garbage is constituted by providing a treating tank with an agitator and the agitation aiding material therein and adding either of a deodorant having composition of solid organic acid, lactic acid bacteria, fungi and saccharides or a treatment promotor, and intermittently operating the agitator, and providing both a still-standing incubation period for covering garbage with hyphae and an agitation period for crushing the hyphae into granular bodies.
