PURPOSE: To eliminate any contact/collision of a change lever with/to the side of a shift pattern groove of a guide plate during the gear shifting while a vehicle is traveling, and to reduce the gear shifting noise. CONSTITUTION: A detent mechanism 30 consisting of a spring 31 arranged at the lower end of a change lever 1, a ball 32 arranged in a depressable manner from the lower end face by the spring 31, and a recessed part 33 which is formed on a concave of a resin-made bottom plate 29 of a casing 3 formed opposite to the lower end of the change lever 1 is provided on the lower end side of a change lever 1 so that the ball 32 may be attached thereto corresponding to the operation position of the change lever 1. Stopper parts 29a, 29b to prevent the strong operation of the change lever corresponding to the switching position between the select ad the shift of the change lever 1 are formed on the concave of the bottom plate 29.
