PURPOSE: To surely carry out shielding againstα-rays with ease so as to elimi nate influence of radioactive rays on a human body by radiatingα-rays provided with ionization action to fuel passing through the inside of anα-ray radiating device connected to a fuel pipe in the vicinity of a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: Anα-ray radiating device 1 is connected to a fuel pipe 2 in the vicinity of a combustion chamber. Pluralα-ray radiating rod bodies 3 formed by sintering a material containing tungsten as the principal constituent and 2% by weight of thorium oxide as the rest constituent are fixed on an aluminum foil sheet 5 on the inside wall face 8 of a metallic cylinder body 6 parallelly in the longitudinal direction by means of an adhesive so as to be supported by means of crimp rings 7 inserted in fitting parts 16 in clamping metal fittings 13 from both ends of the metallic cylinder body 6, and then, installation is carried out by screwing screw parts 14. On the aluminum foil sheet 5, a thorium oxide powder layer 4 containing 2% by weight of thorium oxide is formed via an adhesive 12 layer. In this way, only the prescribedα-rays are radiated, and then, reflected and shielded by means of the aluminum foil 5, so that shielding of radioactive rays can be easily carried out.
