Preparation process for a product of formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) in which R1 and R2, either are identical and represent a C1-C4 alkyl radical, or form together a group of formula (II):-CHR3+545 CR4R5+546 nCHR6-(II) in which R3, R4, R5 and R6, identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-C4 alkyl radical, and n represents 0 or 1, in which an aqueous mixture of glyoxal and an ethanal of formula (III): <IMAGE> (III) in which R1 and R2 have the meaning given above, is reacted with ammonia.
