PURPOSE: To restrain the waiviness of a pitch caused on a surface cut by a wire saw, by cutting a material in a condition, where at least the wires of a multi wire raw to thich an article to be cut is pressed are twisted, in a device where the material of ceramics, etc., is cut into many wafers by a multi-wire saw. CONSTITUTION: In cutting an article to be cut by pressing the article to be cut to a multi wire raw stretchedly provided among plural multi-groove rollers, and also while supplying working liquid onto the article to be cut and/or onto the multi wire raw; the cutting is performed in a condition where at least the wire of the multi wire raw is twisted. In this case, to cut the article to be cut in a condition where the wire is twisted, a stranded wire manufactured by a wire stranding machine, etc., is to be used, or the wire is to be twisted while the wire is stretched at the time of cutting. Preferably, cutting is performed by providing a wire stranding device, for supplying a twisted wire, on a multi-wire saw provided with a device, for supplying the working liquid, onto the article to be cut or onto the multi wire raw, while the wire is wound over among multi-groove rollers to be stretched. |
